母がアメリカへ旅立って一ヶ月が過ぎた。そろそろ日本食が恋しくなると思い、インスタントのお味噌汁やだしの素、海苔などを仕入れた。
アメリカへの小包は重さが重要。100g単位で値段が跳ね上がる。EMSというシステムがポピュラーなのだけど、小型小包だと更に安くなると知り、郵便局で尋ねた。
「EMSは追跡ができるんですよ。普通のだと無くなったらおしまいです。」
コワい事を言う。やっぱりEMSにしよう。
さて今回、母にぜひ届けなくてはならないのがこの子。
こんな顔して外部からの虫をシャットアウトしてくれる優れものだ。母は虫がとてもニガテなんだけど、ホームステイ先は良く言えば軽井沢、母の部屋は２階で目の前は林。虫の宝庫らしい。で、こういうのはあちらには無いらしい。キッチンはハエ取り紙がぶらがっているそうな。
さてEMSには中身をこと細かく英語で表記しなくてはならない。「海苔」って何て言うんだ？「雑炊の素」は？リゾットやろか。そしてこの子は？とにかく税関で不審に思われたらアウト。郵便局の人も「殺虫剤はまずいかなぁ。」と言っていた。きっと開封されちゃう。スプレーや液体は送れないから勘違いされるかも。そこで防虫剤と書いてシート状でドライだと細かく説明を入れた。これなら大丈夫でしょ。ふぅ。
後日談。今、母の部屋にはこの子のピンクバージョンがぶらさがっている。ちゃんと仕事してるかな？
A month has passed since my mother's left for U.S.A.. I thought that she was feeling missed Japanese food so I bought instant miso soups and Japanese soup stock and more.
The weight is the most important thing about the package to U.S.A. A price jumps up by 100 g of units. A system called the EMS is the most popular in Japan, but I found cheaper system. I asked a mail clerk.
"How about this system?"
"Uhm, the EMS can follow and find. It's the safest way. I recommend it."
"OK, I'll use it."
By the way, my mission is sending this one.
Do you know this one? This one with such a funny face works for shutting out insects from outside. My mother really hate insects. But her room is on 2nd floor and also a window is very front of a forest. That's why sending it to her is my important mission!
By the way, I didn't know how to use EMS. I had to describe so clearly about one by one thing. In a word, I had to write a customs declaration and I never.
"What do I say 'NORI'?" (that means laver)
"About 'ZOUSUI NO MOTO'?" (that means powder of Japanese soup and rice)
"How about this one?"
How awkward! How do I describe it? The mail clerk said, "I doubt the wisdom of insecticide." Finally I wrote sheet-like, dried insect repellent. Maybe it's all right. Phew.
4days later. . .
The pink version of this one is hanging at the window of her room now. Does it work properly?
